When sending letters and parcels through the post, there are some weight and size limits that you may need to consider before sending out your mail. Royal Mail have weight limits for each type of format. Their maximum weight limit for a medium parcel is 20kg, with a size limit of 61 cm x 46 cm x 46 cm.

There are different uses for the types of formats you can send your letters and parcels in:

  • Letters : Ideal for sending greetings cards, letters, postcards and documents. Recommended envelopes are C6 Envelopes, DL Envelopes, C5 Envelopes
  • Large letter – Ideal for A4 documents, important certificates, magazines, and books. Recommended envelopes are C4 Envelopes
  • Small parcel – Ideal for smaller items like light clothing and bulkier books. Recommended packaging are Book Wraps and Slim Line Boxes
  • Medium parcel – Ideal for gifts, shoes and any heavy or bulky items. Recommended packaging are One Touch Boxes
